As Per Work Safe BC Legislation
As of January 2024, Work Safe BC has set in place safety precautions for workers requiring proper certification and training around asbestos. It is also important to note that it is a requirement to receive a completed report of any presence of hazard materials prior to any demolition, renovations, or construction projects. We provide you with an experienced inspector with the proper tools to collect samples for your report.
Hazardous Material Inspection (HMI)
Hazardous Material Inspections are a crucial part of the process since they produce a product that serves to protect several aspects of health including the environment. Buildings and homes that were constructed prior to the 1990’s have a high chance of containing hazardous materials of asbestos, lead, or mould. But there is evidence that newer buildings have contained these hazardous materials as early as the year of 2018. The HMI is a necessary piece that is needed when renovating or demolishing a building because it identifies the potential hazards. Also, if you are purchasing, or leasing a property, the HMI will be able to detect risks which makes for healthier living and working conditions.
There are also instances where companies work with chemicals or hazardous substances whereby, they must comply with safety regulations by performing regular HMIs to prevent contamination of the environment. Whether you are remodelling or raising structures it is important to follow proper procedures. Hazardous materials can be dangerous to work with and pose risks even in the smallest amounts. It can lead to health problems and even death, If not taken seriously with proper precautions, It can lead to health issues and even lead to fatality. Our job is to be proactive in providing a HMI to ensure that precautions are at the forefront and everyone stays safe.
